CHICAGO, IL — National Ice Cream Day is Sunday, July 16, which means we all have permission to eat ice cream for lunch and dinner. In 1984, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed July as "National Ice Cream Month" and the third Sunday of July as "National Ice Cream Day." Reagan wanted to commemorate a treat enjoyed by over 90 percent of the US population.

Ice cream shops and stores across the United States are offering special deals this Sunday. For example, Dairy Queen will have a "sweet" deal available through its app. Baskin-Robbins is also offering some savings starting Sunday through July 22. As always, it's best practice to check ahead with your local shop to see if that location is participating.
