Tombstone 5k Features Run Through Mount Greenwood Cemetery

CHICAGO — Are you and your family looking for a creative way to kick off your Halloween? Running Excels is bringing back the Tombstone 5K this Saturday, Oct. 15, starting at 8:30 a.m. The family-friendly run and walk runs through Mount Greenwood Cemetery,

The Running Excels Tombstone 5K is chip-timed, but we invite runners and walkers of all abilities to join the fun. And don’t forget to show off your costumes. We will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation. Register today by clicking here.

Awards

TOP FEMALE and MALE RUNNERS will receive a pair of Brooks Ghost running shoes courtesy of Running Excels. Additionally, the top 3 male and female finishers in each age category will receive medals. (The categories are 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 & over.)

In addition, prizes will be given to the Best Costume. Winners of Best Costume must be present in order to receive their award.

Post Race Activities

Runners, walkers and spectators are invited to stay after the race for the refreshments and complimentary face painting. DON’T FORGET TO VOTE FOR BEST COSTUME AFTER THE RACE.

Race Day Registration

Race Day Registration will be available from 7:30-8:00 am. Registration at packet pickup at Running Excels, 10328 S. Western Ave. and race day registration will be $45 for the 5K and $40 for Untimed Walker.
