CHICAGO - "The Uprising Handmade Holiday Market" will return for its second year at Olivia's Garden and third year overall this weekend. The event, which now features nearly 50 local artists and vendors inside the warmth of the greenhouse at Olivia's, is set to run from noon until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9.

Thirty artists will offer high quality artisanal items, from jewelry and knitted items to photography and ceramics, for the perfect holiday gift or gift to self, according to an event flyer. Live music, raffled gift baskets, a Creme of the Crop food truck and festive cocktail creations by Lizzy Benner will be highlights of the event.

Attendees are asked to give $5, which will go as a donation to support the Beverly Area Arts Alliance.

"It's not your typical craft fair," said Dave Barsotti, one of the event organizers. "There will be more than 45 vendors who all have a good selection of items. It has become more and more about artists selling their work, so there will be quite a few pieces of art that will be available."

Barsotti said "The Uprising" has grown in popularity every year since it began in the winter of 2016 at Blue Island Brewing.

"We're hoping to have a large turnout, for our vendors to sell a lot of stuff and for everyone to have a good time," he said.
