Visitation, Funeral Set For Chicago Firefighter Jermaine Pelt
Visitation will take place April 13 at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn, followed by a funeral April 14, at House of Hope.

CHICAGO — Funeral arrangements have been announced for fallen firefighter Jermaine Pelt. His body was escorted Friday by a motorcade from the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office to Blake-Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn.
Pelt died in the line of duty, April 4, fighting a house fire on the South Side. The 49-year-old firefighter was considered a pillar of the West Pullman community.
Visitation for Pelt will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd St., Oak Lawn (103rd Street and Cicero Avenue). His funeral is set for Friday at 11 a.m. at House of Hope, 752 E. 114th St. Chicago.

CFD Lt. Jan Tchoryk, 55, died Wednesday of a heart attack while climbing up the stairs while fighting a high-rise fire on the city’s Gold Coast. Tchoryk was a U.S. Navy veteran, and a married father of three. His son is a Chicago police officer.
Visitation for Tchoryyk will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 at Cumberland Chapels, Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. The fallen firefighter will be escorted in a solemn procession from the funeral home at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 13, to St. Joseph the Betrothed Ukrainian Catholic Church, 5000 North Cumberland Ave., Chicago, for a 10 a.m. funeral service. Arrangements are entrusted to Friel Funeral Directors.
