UPDATED: Procession Route Changed For CFD Firefighter Jermaine Pelt
Due to police activity on Pulaski Road, the procession route for Chicago Firefighter Jermaine Pelt has been changed for Friday, April 14.

CHICAGO — Due to a hostage situation in the 10700 block of Pulaski Road Friday morning, the procession route for Chicago Firefighter-EMT Jermaine Pelt is being altered. Oak Lawn police have shut down Pulaski between 111th and 107th Streets.
The funeral will is set for Friday at 11 a.m. at House of Hope, 752 E. 114th St., Chicago.
CFD and CPD are expected to leave Blake-Lamb at approximately 9 a.m. for the procession to House of Hope taking the following route. Please note the following changes:
- From Blake-Lamb eastbound on 103rd Street to Western Avenue;
- Southbound on Western Avenue to 111th St.
- Eastbound on 111th St. to Longwood Dr.
- Southbound on Longwood Dr. to 115th St.
- Eastbound on 115th St. to 114th St. (north side of street into House of Hope Parking Lot)
Services for fallen Chicago firefighter/EMT Jermaine Pelt began with visitation Thursday, followed by a procession Friday through the neighborhood from Blake-Lawn Funeral Home in Oak Lawn to House of Hope in Chicago for the funeral service.

Pelt died in the line of duty, April 4, fighting a house fire on the South Side. The 49-year-old firefighter was considered a pillar of the West Pullman community.
Visitation for Pelt will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd St., Oak Lawn (103rd Street and Cicero Avenue). Oak Lawn police have issued a traffic alert for the area.

Parking in the residential area surrounding the funeral home and traffic on 103rd Street between Cicero and Kostner Avenue will be greatly impacted. Oak Lawn police ask residents for their patience.
