16-Year-Old Charged; Found With Stolen, Loaded Handgun: Police

The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center in Joliet.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A 16-year-old from Crest Hill was charged with possession of stolen firearm after a "pedestrian stop" on Monday in Bolingbrook, Bolingbrook Police said in a news release.

Police said that officers from the Problem Oriented Policing Unit conducted a pedestrian stop in the at Briarcliff Road and Bolingbrook Drive for "an observed pedestrian violation."

An investigation and search of the 16-year-old revealed illegally possessed cannabis and a loaded 9mm handgun, which was reported stolen out of Indiana, according to police.

The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the River Valley Juvenile Detention Center in Joliet. The juvenile was charged with possession of stolen firearm, aggravated unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of cannabis under 10 grams.
