BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Will County Coroner's Office and the Cold Case Unit are looking for any information about an unidentified Hispanic man who was found dead in 1998 in Bolingbrook, the coroner's office shared on its Facebook page.

The man was pronounced dead on April 22, 1998, in a field behind a truck stop at I-55 and Route 53 in Bolingbrook, the coroner's office said.

The remains were skeletonized, and "there were no positive identifiers accompanying the decedent," the coroner's office said. The man had been shot.

To help possibly identify this man, the coroner's office shared a description and personal effects:

  • Hispanic man, between ages of 18-24 at death
  • Time of death is estimated between 1993 and 1997
  • About 5-foot, five inches tall
  • Brown hair, noticeable overbite
  • Personal effects include: A Motorola pager, an XL blue nylon Starter jacket, a 32-inch Levi’s silver tab belt, and size 9-9-1/2 Nike Air Force Max Charles Barkley edition shoes
