2 Bolingbrook Students Busted For School Threats
Will County schools are taking action against threats of violence. A teen was arrested this week in Minooka.

On Tuesday, the Minooka Police Department announced that a 16-year-old teenager was taken into custody and shipped off to the Kane County Juvenile Detention Center in St. Charles. The reason for the arrest was a social media threat to do harm against Minooka's high school. As it turns out, other public schools in Will County have seen an uptick in threats of violence made by students in wake of the Feb. 14 tragedy in Parkland, Florida where 17 students and staff were killed at Stoneman Douglas High School.
On Tuesday, the Bolingbrook Police Department confirmed that officers investigated two separate incidents that has resulted in criminal charges from incidents at Bolingbrook High School. So far, two teenagers have been charged with disorderly conduct, police said.
Both incidents occurred on Feb. 15, the day after the Parkland, Florida tragedy. According to Bolingbrook Police, in one of the cases, a 14-year-old boy made statements that alarmed other students.

"The statements were not a specific threat, but were perceived as a warning of potential violence," according to Bolingbrook Police.
Also that same day, a 15-year-old student made "verbal threats directed towards a teacher and fellow student," Bolingbrook Police said. (Police didn't say whether that student was male or female.)

On a different note, many of Bolingbrook's high school students, with the support of their parents, have tried to turn the terrible deadly shooting spree at Parkland, Florida, into something that fosters unity and school spirit for their school building and their high school's teaching staff.
On Monday, Feb. 19, parents of several Bolingbrook High School students organized a secret event that involved decorating the school building with positive Post-It note messages. One of our Bolingbrook Patch Posters, Savanna DiCostanzo, wrote an uplifting first-hand article about the event.
