3 Bolingbrook HS Students Win Regional Wrestling Championships

Four Valley View School District 365U wrestlers and three Bolingbrook High School students won individual IHSA regional championships Saturday.

Four Valley View School District 365U wrestlers won individual Illinois High School Association regional championships Saturday with 12 wrestlers in all placing in the top four in the weight class.

Romeoville High School senior Naquan Hardy (35-1) won the 120-pound class with an 11-2 decision in the title match.

Regional champs for Bolingbrook High School were senior Milan Patel (31-7) at 106 pounds, sophomore Elijah Bavarro (29-9) at 126 pounds, and senior Luis Sampedro (19-9) at 145 pounds.

Other high finishers for RHS included senior Caleb Romos, 2nd at 132 pounds and sophomore Evan Stingily, 3rd at 182 pounds.

For BHS, senior Max Crider was 2nd at 113 pounds, junior Andrew Collins was 3rd at 138 pounds, senior Javier Marquez was third at 170 pounds, senior David Opare-Addo was 2nd at 182 pounds, junior Eli Carbajal was 4th at 195 pounds and senior Dan Navarro was 4th at 285 pounds.

The Raiders placed second in team total with 136.5 points. Waubonsie Valley was individual regional champ.

Individual wrestling sectionals are Feb. 8 and 9. The state finals are Feb. 14-16.

The state team wrestling championship will be contested beginning with sectionals Feb. 19. State is Feb. 23.
