$3 Million Check Presented To DuPage Township For New Food Pantry
Congressman Bill Foster presented the check to township officials on Thursday.
BOLINGBROOK, IL — On Thursday, Congressman Bill Foster presented a check for $3 million to DuPage Township for the construction of the township's new food pantry and resource center.
The $3 million grant was one of 15 of Foster's 2023 community funding project selections, according to a news release from the township.
During the presentation at the Levy Center on Bolingbrook, Foster highlighted the significance of having a food pantry.

"Food pantries are an essential part of our society, and they provide the last line of defense for those who may not be able to access or afford healthy food sufficient food. Food pantries are not only an incredible resource to those in need but also help our communities become more sustainable, like rescuing our food before it's discarded and redistributed to people who need it and will use it," he said in a news release.
The new facility will replace the existing food pantry, which is currently in Romeoville. The sale of the Romeoville property will help offset costs for the new resource center.

The proposed new site in Bolingbrook is within blocks of the DuPage Township Administration Building and will be designed for ease of traffic flow and will be accessible by public transportation, according to the Township.
