39 Bolingbrook Runners Complete Chicago Marathon

Sunday's race was filled with local participants, including 39 Bolingbrook runners who finished the marathon.

BOLINGBROOK, IL —It may have been a long wait, but for the participants in the 43rd edition of the Chicago Marathon, it was worth it. Not run since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sunday's race was filled with local participants, including 39 Bolingbrook runners who finished the marathon.

The marathon was won by Seifu Tura, of Ethiopia, and Ruth Chepngetich of Kenya, in 2 hours, 6.12 seconds, and 2:22:31, respectively. Daniel Romanchuk and Tatyana McFadden, both of the United States, won the wheelchair race. They finished at 1:29:07 and 1:48:57, respectively.

Of locals from Bolingbrook who ran, participant Stevie Parks was the fastest, finishing the race in 3 hours, 34 minutes and 59 seconds.

Participants in this year's race were required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of attending the event.
