45th Annual Band Solo Contest Held At Lukancic

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Lukancic Middle School hosted the 45th annual Valley View School District band solo contest event on Feb. 19. The event, which is one of the longest, annual continuous events in the district, returned to an in-person format this year, according to the district.

Participating students performed in front of expert judges, who are mainly area music teachers and performers, the district said. Students receive medal ratings of gold, silver or bronze, and the judges also give students encouragement, feedback and constructive critiques to foster skill improvement, the district said.

Over 400 VVSD students began working on their solo performance pieces in December for presentation in the Band Solo Contest hosted by the Lukancic Middle School Band Boosters, the district said.
