Accused Drunk Driver Also Had Alprazolam: Bolingbrook Cops

Mario Mora lives in Romeoville.

BOLINGBROOK. IL - The Bolingbrook Police Department arrested a 30-year-old Romeoville man on charges of drunken driving and police say he also had illegal narcotics in his car, namely Alprazolam. Mario Mora, who lives in the 600 block of Lynn Avenue, was charged with aggravated drunken driving, driving while revoked, possessing controlled substances, DUI, transporting or carrying liquor as the driver and disregarding a stop sign. A Will County judge set his bail at $30,000, and he remained incarcerated as of late Tuesday night.

Around 1:48 a.m. Monday, Bolingbrook Police say they saw Mora's car heading south on Schmidt Road near Blair Lane and Mora "was swerving in the roadway." Then, he missed the stop sign at Schmidt and Buckeye, police say, stopping his car in the middle of the intersection. After Mora turned left without using his turn signal, "officers initiated a traffic stop on Mora," according to police reports.

Mora's troubles got worse when "officers saw an open beer can in the vehicle. It was also determined Mora did not have a valid driver’s license," reports show.

Mora agreed to take a field sobriety test to determine if he was impaired and he failed it, Bolingbrook Police said. After Mora was taken into custody, "officers located a prescription bottle in Mora’s vehicle. The bottle was in Mora’s name, but did not contain the proper medication as listed on the bottle. The pills inside the bottle were identified as Alprazolam, a controlled substance," report show
