Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital Left Off U.S. News Hospital Rankings

Bolingbrook's hospital was left off the list of 46 best metropolitan hospitals. But hospital officials say it's because of their youthful existence.

But hospital officials are saying the hospital’s youthful existence has much to do with them being passed over.

“U.S. News & World Report’s methodology gives much weight to a hospital’s reputation; Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital’s reputation has existed for only three years,” said Lisa Parro, a senior public relations specialist for the hospital. “The hospital has only recently added such services as cancer care, which is one of the specialties highlighted in the U.S. News survey.”

Parro said Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital is one of the reasons Money magazine ranked Bolingbrook the 43rd best place to live in 2010.

She also said the hospital just earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for accreditation by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety in hospitals, which recognizes the hospital’s dedication to compliance with the commission’s state-of-the-art standards, including infection prevention and control, leadership and mediation management.

“Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital is recognized as an industry leader in infection prevention; only one central-line associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) has taken place at the hospital since it opened three years ago,” Parro said.
