Bolingbrook Police Chief Retiring

BOLINGBROOK, IL — After 31 years with the department, Bolingbrook Police Chief Mike Rompa will retire on June 19.

A new chief has not yet been named.

"On behalf of the Village Board and the entire Bolingbrook community, we extend our deepest gratitude to Police Chief Mike Rompa for his decades of dedicated service to our community," Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta told Patch.

Rompa was named police chief in 2020 as the village moved away from having a public safety director and reinstated the positions of the police and fire chief.

Rompa had previously served as commander and deputy chief at the department.

"From his early years with the Bolingbrook Police Department to his leadership as Chief of Police, Chief Rompa has served with professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to public safety," Alexander-Basta said. "Throughout his career, he has helped strengthen the bond between our police department and the residents we serve, leaving a lasting impact on our village."
