BOLINGBROOK, IL — A "fecal incident involving diarrhea" has prompted aquatic center officials in Bolingbrook to close the pool, the park district announced to residents in an alert on social media on Saturday night.

"Sometimes summer doesn't go quite as planned," the post read. "Unfortunately, Pelican Harbor outdoor Aquatic Park is temporarily closed due to a fecal incident involving diarrhea."

The pool must undergo "a specialized treatment process before it can safely reopen," in accordance with public health guidelines, the district said.

"Our team is working to complete the required treatment and will be ready to welcome guests back to the outdoor pool on Monday, July 13," the post continued.

There's some good news, though.

The indoor pool will be open from noon to 6 p.m.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding," the post concluded. "We appreciate your support as we put the health and safety of our guests first."
