BOLINGBROOK, IL — A Bolingbrook woman is facing charges of aggravated DUI and reckless homicide after a May crash that left a man dead, Bolingbrook Police told Patch.
Bolingbrook Police officers responded at 3:29 p.m. on May 24 to Canterbury Lane and Lily Cache Lane for a motor vehicle crash.
Police said the crash happened when Latonya MaGee, 48, of Bolingbrook, made a left turn onto eastbound Lily Cache Lane while failing to yield to Mohamed Zakee, 28, of Romeoville.
Zakee was traveling westbound on Lily Cache Lane. He was taken to a local hospital and later died from injuries sustained in the collision, police said.
MaGee was taken to the hospital, where a DUI test kit was administered in accordance with the Illinois Vehicle Code, police said. The test revealed her blood alcohol concentration exceeded the legal limit of .08 at the time of the accident, according to officials.
A Will County arrest warrant was signed on Monday, and MaGee, of the 300 block of Whispering Court, is charged with reckless homicide and two counts of aggravated driving under the influence.
MaGee was taken into custody in Bolingbrook on Tuesday, police said. She was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility and is awaiting a hearing. She was due in court on Wednesday morning.
"The Bolingbrook Police Department commends our Traffic Unit, Patrol Officers, and the Naperville Police Department for their professional teamwork in helping to find justice for Mr. Zakee's family," the department said.
