BOLINGBROOK, IL — Voters in DuPage Township voted in favor of a referendum asking about the right to boycott Israel, according to unofficial results from the Will County Clerk's Office.
The exact question on the ballot was: "Shall individuals and businesses be allowed to boycott and divest from the State of Israel."
According to unofficial results, 18,366 people voted "yes" to the referendum question, while 6,305 voted "no."
Thirty-seven precincts reported for the Township's question, and the "yes" vote was favored at every single precinct that voted, per the unofficial results.
The closest margin was at DuPage Precinct 34, where 375 residents voted yes (61.17 percent of votes), and 238 voted no (38.83 percent of votes), according to the clerk's office.
In April, voters at the DuPage Township annual town meeting voted to put the advisory question about Israel on the ballot.
DuPage Township contains the majority of Bolingbrook and small portions of Lemont, Lockport, Naperville, Plainfield, Woodridge, and the northern half of Romeoville.
