Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital honors Daisy Award winner

Pamela Dawald, nurse clinician III, cardiovascular heart assessment recovery and treatment unit, at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, resident of Bolingbrook, received the Daisy Award honor for the month of July.

Dawald is the type of nurse who takes time out of her day, every day, to attend to her patient’s needs small or big. She has a strong bond with one of her patients who she has gone above and beyond answering questions, contacting physicians and making his health her priority while still giving full attention to her other patients.

The patient recently had to undergo a major surgery and Dawald made sure to care for him every step of the way.

“I believe Pam’s support and care strengthened his resolve and gave him the positive outlook and confidence he needed to pull through the surgery,” said Lori Wharton, nurse clinician III, cardiovascular heart assessment recovery and treatment unit.

The care and compassion Dawald showed to this patient earned her a nomination and the award as the Daisy Award winner of the month.

The Daisy Award honors nurses like Moran for their excellence in caregiving. The award was created to honor the memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died of a disease called idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura. Along with a certificate and a pin, Moran enjoyed a Cinnabon breakfast, a favorite of Barnes, with her nursing unit.
