Bolingbrook Approves Purchase Of Rock Salt
The purchase is for 4,600 tons of rock salt, for a cost of $352,498.
BOLINGBROOK, IL — At its Tuesday meeting, the Bolingbrook Village Board approved a purchase of rock salt. The purchase is per the state of Illinois joint purchasing 2022-2023 bulk rock salt contract, according to board documents.
The purchase is for 4,600 tons of rock salt, for a cost of $352,498. $375,000 had been budgeted for the purchase.
Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta said the price per ton did increase this year. This year, it is $76.63 per ton; last year, it was $50.58 per ton.

Alexander-Basta said the Village saves on cost by participating in the joint purchasing contract with the state and other nearby communities.
The supplier for the rock salt is Morton Salt.
