Bolingbrook Citizen Of Year Sheldon Watts Joins Village Board
Watts fills the vacancy of Leroy Brown Sr., who died recently after being a community icon in Bolingbrook for decades.

BOLINGBROOK, IL - The past several weeks have been a time of sadness for the village of Bolingbrook because community icon Leroy Brown Sr. died unexpectedly after recovering from heart surgery. Brown was a popular figure in village politics, the Valley View School District and numerous Bolingbrook civic organizations. On Veteran's Day, Mayor Roger Claar honored Brown by dedicating the village's new Vietnam Veterans Memorial stone in Brown's memory. This week, the village board tapped Sheldon Watts to fill Brown's vacancy as a village trustee for Bolingbrook.
Leroy Brown's wife of 51 years, Patricia, and her son, Leroy Brown Jr., came to Tuesday night's meeting to support the appointment of Sheldon Watts.

"It is an honor, and truly humbling to be asked to complete his remaining unexpired term," Watts said in a statement issued by the village. "I look forward to working hard every day on behalf of the residents of Bolingbrook."
