Bolingbrook Couple Welcomes New Year's Baby
NyHeir Irie Stroud was born at 4:16 a.m. Jan. 1.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — NyHeir Irie Stroud is the Bolingbrook New Year’s baby that almost wasn’t.
The baby boy, weighing five pounds, 15 ounces, was thought to be arriving much earlier. In fact, the boy’s mom had been to the hospital three times in the past few weeks thinking the baby was on his way, according to the Chicago Tribune. But they were false alarms.

When Ebony Carter began having labor pains at around midnight Jan. 1, she almost didn’t even go.
“We did not want to go,” Carter told the Tribune. “I thought ‘It’s Braxton-Hicks; it’s a false alarm. He’s not going to come on New Year’s.’”

She was eventually persuaded by her fiance, Steve Stroud, and his mother into going to the hospital. At 4:16 a.m., her little baby boy was born at AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center in Bolingbrook.
