Bolingbrook Fraud Suspect Sought: Complaint

A co-defendant, Raven Miles, was taken into custody on April 5.

BOLINGBROOK, IL - It's been more than a week since the Will County State's Attorney's Office filed three felony charges against Natasha K. Smith. Her charges are burglary, theft by deception and forgery. But where the Bolingbrook woman is remains unclear. Her co-defendant, Raven Miles, was taken into custody earlier this month after hiding inside the trunk of a car and then Miles went berserk by damaging a squad car, Bolingbrook police reports show.

The criminal complaint against Smith outlines the following allegations against her:

On Nov. 13, Smith entered 1456 Lily Cache Lane in Bolingbrook and remained in the building to commit a theft, court documents show. That same date, Smith "tendered to the Bolingbrook Police a document apparently capable of defrauding another, in that it purported to have been made by another, 'La Tore Luis Hilda DE' said document being a lease to rent the residence located at 1456 Lily Cache Drive, Bolingbrook."

Authorities say Smith "represented that she and a woman by the name of Raven Miles had agreed with the purported owner or landlord ... to rent said property for $1,200 per month, knowing the document to have been thus made" fraudulently.

The theft by deception charge against Smith states she "made a fraudulent representation to the Bolingbrook Police that she had a valid lease to rent said residence and that she was authorized to enter into and occupy said residence when the defendant knew that the lease was fraudulent ..."
