Bolingbrook Gets Holiday Lights Grant From ComEd

The grant, for $2,500, was awarded to 18 communities in northern Illinois, including Bolingbrook.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Village of Bolingbrook was awarded a grant from ComEd and the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus through ComEd's Powering the Holidays program, the business announced Monday.

The grant, for $2,500, was awarded to 18 communities in northern Illinois, including Bolingbrook.

"Nothing spreads holiday cheer like the twinkle of festive lights, and we are proud to power the displays that celebrate community identity and culture," Gil Quiniones, CEO of ComEd, said in a news release. "ComEd and the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus are excited to again support a wide variety of holiday lighting displays that bring residents together to celebrate and experience cultural traditions within their communities."

Bolingbrook's Winter Walk will run from Dec. 2 to Jan. 8, and will feature a walking path of lights and decorations behind Town Center.

"We are thrilled to once again partner with ComEd on the Powering the Holidays Program," said Neil James, Executive Director of the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus. "It will be rewarding to see these grants provide communities a sense of unity during the holiday season and help people develop a respect and understanding for different cultures."

The grant program, established in 2021, supports holiday programs that encourage respect for different cultures, promote intercultural exchange and provide a pathway for all members of these communities to gain a sense of belonging, the business said in a release.

In addition to its grant program, ComEd also sponsors and supports holiday lights events at Lincoln Park Zoo, Brookfield Zoo, The Morton Arboretum and Chicago Botanic Garden.

Other towns which received grants this year are: Belvidere, Bensenville, Bull Valley, Evergreen Park, Forest Park, Geneva, Grayslake, Hampshire, Highland Park, Niles, Rolling Meadows, Schiller Park, South Chicago Heights, Summit, Waukegan, Wayne and West Chicago.
