Bolingbrook Group Gives $3.5K Tip To Honey Jam Cafe
Each year, the group gathers for breakfast just before Christmas, and at the end of the meal, each person leaves a $100 tip.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — In the fourth annual "Shock and Claus," a group of friends, family and business leaders gave a $3,500 tip to a server at Honey Jam Cafe in Bolingbrook.
Starting in 2018, Bolingbrook attorney Joe Giamanco of Giamanco Law Partners, has organized a group to gather for breakfast just before Christmas, and at the end of the meal, each person leaves a $100 tip.
Last year's event was a "grab and go" version, but this year, it returned to an in-person format, Giamanco said. In past years, the group has dined at Eggs Inc., Charlie's and Family Square.

"The past 19 months have been difficult on many, the food service industry has been especially hard hit given closures of indoor dining and a reluctance by many to leave the house. Giving generously this time of year provides us with an opportunity to spread a bit of Christmas cheer while also showing support for our local restaurants," Giamanco said.
Giamanco said this year's event was the most well-attended yet, and about $3,500 was given as a tip. The server decided to share some of it with other staff members as well.

Several people who couldn't attend in-person also sent additional donations, Giamanco said.
"We encourage others to repeat the idea and continue to share their generosity as they are able throughout the holiday season," Giamanco said.
