Bolingbrook House a Total Loss After Fire
Blaze may have ignited gas containers, propane tanks inside the garage.

BOLINGBROOK, IL -- A fire that destroyed a Bolingbrook home and vehicle is believed to have started in the garage, authorities said.
Bolingbrook Public Safety Director Tom Ross said firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 216 N. Ashbury just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
Ross said the homeowner smelled something burning and saw a slight haze, and opened the overhead garage door to investigate. The rush of air fed the fire, which is believed to have started in the garage, and ignited the vehicle as well as gas containers and propane tanks inside, Ross said.

When firefighters arrived on the scene three minutes residents called 911, the fire was already through the roof of the attached garage, according to Ross.
Ross said Facebook reports of an explosion are likely due to the sound of propane tanks igniting.

"That's the loud noises people heard," he said.
The blaze destroyed both the home and the vehicle, said Ross, who estimated the loss at around $180,000.
Ross said the residents of the home escaped uninjured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
