Bolingbrook HS Students Sweep Tollway Map Art Contest

Artwork designed by junior Luis Chavez earned top honors.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Bolingbrook High School graphic design students finished in the top four spots in the Illinois Tollway’s 2017 map cover art contest.

Artwork designed by junior Luis Chavez earned top honors. His design will appear on thousands of Tollway system maps next year. In addition, he receives a $400 gift certificate from Blick Art Materials and $200 in gift certificates from MBRE to use at Tollway oases retail shops and restaurants.

Senior Alyssa Elborne finished second, senior Vanessa Arenas was third and senior Manuella Rodela was fourth. Each receives a $200 gift certificate from Blick Art Materials and $100 in gift certificates from MBRE.
The finalists were selected from 90 entries from schools throughout the Chicago area. The finalists’ designs were posted on-line and in every Tollway oasis where more than 40,000 votes were cast to pick the winners.
The contest was open to art students at more than 300 public high schools in the 12 counties served by the Tollway. Any high school student enrolled in art class was eligible to enter.

This year’s theme was “Enhancing Drivers Experience via Innovation and Technology.”
