Bolingbrook HS Volleyball Star Named First Team All-State
He will attend Lewis University to play for the Flyers who were ranked 12th in the nation this past season.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Bolingbrook High School’s Tyler Mitchem has been named First Team All-State by the Illinois High School Volleyball Coaches Association.

Mitchem, who also was a member of the Herald News All Area Team and a two-time member of the South West Suburban All Conference Team, was the 2016 BHS MVP. He will attend Lewis University to play for the Flyers who were ranked 12th in the nation this past season and have been to the Midwestern Intercollegiate Conference championship game for five straight years.
"Tyler has a ton of potential with his size, long frame and athleticism," Lewis Coach Dan Friend said, adding he has “just scratched the surface” of his overall ability.

During his varsity career at BHS Mitchem registered 387 kills, 77 solo blocks, 64 block assists and 46 aces.
The 6-foot-nine middle blocker/hitter plays for Sports Performance 18 Elite, one of the top ranked volleyball clubs in the country.
