Bolingbrook ISIS Recruit Gets In Trouble Again

Mohammed Hamzah Khan, 21, pleaded guilty to attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization.

BOLINGBROOK, IL - In 2016, 21-year-old Mohammed Hamzah Khan was sentenced in Chicago to 40 months in federal prison for trying to join ISIS. The Bolingbrook man was also put on 20 years of supervised release as part of the case. Now Khan has had another brush with the criminal justice system. The Chicago Tribune reported on Wednesday that Khan violated the conditions of his probation by utilizing a smart phone. The consequence of his actions is that Khan has been put in a halfway house, the Tribune reported.

In 2015, numerous media outlets reported that Khan's mother was angry at ISIS, accusing the terrorist organization of trying to recruit her other children as well.

"Leave our children alone," the Bolingbrook woman said, accusing ISIS and its self-proclaimed leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, of "brainwashing and recruiting of children through the use of social media and the Internet," the Chicago Tribune reported.
