BOLINGBROOK, IL — In honor of the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks this Saturday, Bolingbrook officials will hold a commemorative service on Facebook Live.
The 30-minute memorial will start at 9:03 a.m. with Bolingbrook Police and Fire Honor Guards lowering a flag to half staff. For the service, Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta will be joined by elected officials and the Bolingbrook police and fire departments.
"Each year we remember those who lost their lives, the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for others, and those who have been forever marked by this moment in history," event organizers wrote on Facebook. "We urge all residents to give meaning to the phrase "Never Forget" to mourn for those we lost and continue to support those who rushed toward danger that day."
