Bolingbrook Names New Assistant Principal

Kathleen Nigro graduated from Elmhurst College in 2000.

BOLINGBROOK, IL - The Valley View School District 365U Board of Education has approved the selection of Kathleen Nigro to the position of Assistant Principal at Oak View Elementary School. Nigro will succeed Eugenia Harvatt on July 1, 2018. Harvatt is retiring at the end of the current school year after 20 years of service in VVSD.

Nigro has served the Robert C. Hill Elementary School community as assistant principal for the last six years. She began her service in VVSD in 2002 as a resource teacher and case manager at what was then B.J. Ward Middle School. Two years later, Nigro moved to Brooks Middle School as a 6th and 7th grade special education teacher. Then she returned to B.J. Ward, which had become an elementary school, and served as a first grade teacher for seven years. During that time she also was the principal for the Summer School Program at B.J. Ward.

Nigro began her career in education soon after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Elmhurst College in 2000. Five years later, she earned a Master of Education in Administration and Leadership from Benedictine University.
