Bolingbrook Native to Represent EIU at Twirling Championships

Submitted article:

Nicola Colucy, 19, will head to Notre Dame University on Monday, July 21, to represent Eastern Illinois University and her hometown of Bolingbrook as the current 2014 Intermediate Miss Majorette of Illinois, Illinois State Champion and Midwest Regional Champion in the NBTA National Baton Twirling Championships.

Colucy will be a sophomore at Eastern Illinois University, a kinesiology and sports studies major and  the feature twirler for the Panther Marching Band for her second year this fall. After a great freshman year of twirling on the field for the OVC champions and competing since May, she has earned her own championship status at each of the three major competitions held in Illinois to qualify her for Nationals.

In May, she won the Intermediate  Miss Majorette of Illinois title. Midwest Regional Championships were held in June and again Colucy won a first-place sweep in all six of her events. She also won three events at the Illinois State Championships in Zion, Illinois, earlier this month.
