Officer Shot During Training Exercise
The incident occurred last Tuesday, Bolingbrook's Police Department informed Patch.

BOLINGBROOK, IL - Bolingbrook Police Officer Luke Anderson is recovering after suffering a gunshot wound last Tuesday afternoon during a police training exercise, Bolingbrook Police officials confirmed on Monday afternoon. Patch contacted Bolingbrook Police about the incident after receiving information from a credible source. Bolingbrook's Police Department had tried to keep the incident under wraps.
However, six days after the incident, Bolingbrook Police confirmed to Patch that Anderson was shot in the hand around 3:20 p.m. on April 17. "Officer Anderson was transported by police personnel to an area hospital with a non-life threatening injury," according to a statement issued by the Bolingbrook Police Department.
"Officer Anderson was treated and released from the hospital and is expected to return to full duty."

According to Bolingbrook Police, "the incident is still under investigation by the Bolingbrook Police Department Office of Professional Standards."
Patch was told over the weekend that Anderson got shot with an AR-15 assault-style rifle. Patch asked the Bolingbrook Police Department on two separate occasions Monday whether the gun in last week's injury was an AR-15.

"A firearm. The matter is still under investigation. No further details," a Bolingbrook Police representative wrote back to Patch in an email.
