
Join a more than decade-long tradition at this year’s Parkie’s 5K, set for Saturday, Aug. 23, at Bolingbrook Recreation and Aquatic Complex, 200S. Lindsey Ln.
New this year, the event will use chip bib timing.
The USA Track & Field-certified event winds through subdivisions near the park and park property on paved streets. Course monitors, split timers, and water stations will be provided.

Participants can register at the Bolingbrook Park District, 200 S. Lindsey Ln. or 201 Recreation Dr. from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Pre-registraton fee is $21 for adults ages 15 and up and $19 for kids ages 6 to 14.
Pre-registration closes at 5 p.m. Aug. 20. Race day registration will be available beginning at 6:30 a.m. ($24 adult/$22 child ages 6-14). Parkie’s 5k runs rain or shine. No refunds available.

The first 500 registrations will get a moisture wicking T-shirt, and post-race refreshments iwll be served.
After the race, plaques will be awarded to the overall male and female runners and the top three finishers in each age group.
Pelican Harbor will open at 10 a.m. just for runners and their families with purchase of Bolingbrook Cares wristbands for $2. All proceeds from wristband sales will support the Bolingbrook Park District Financial Aid fund.
