BOLINGBROOK, IL — Bolingbrook Police K-9 Scout has completed her eight-month certification process and will become Bolingbrook's first deployable bloodhound team with her handler, Officer Alexia Britton.
According to a release from the department, Britton and Scout joined the K-9 unit in July 2022. The department has 3 K-9s with the addition of Scout. Scout's K-9 partners Johan and Ava are both Belgium malinois, which are dual-purpose police dogs, the department said.
Scout's abilities allow her to track a specific scent over great distances, according to the department. Britton and Scout will serve as the primary tracking team for the department.
