BOLINGBROOK, IL - The Bolingbrook Police teamed up with Meijer Store in the 19th Annual “Shop with a Cop” event on December 14. The event was hosted at the Meijer located at 755 E. Boughton Rd., Bolingbrook.

This year’s event treated over 100 Bolingbrook children. Meijer Store Director Donald Williams and his assistant, Pam Willis played instrumental roles to make the day an overwhelming success. They also provided free gift wrapping, food and drinks for all of the participants. Bolingbrook Director of Public Safety Director Ken Teppel and Deputy Chief Mike Rompa led numerous Bolingbrook Police Department employees, their family members and Explorer Post #38 in this effort to make the holiday brighter for all.

The program has grown every year and the positive interaction is incredible. I have coordinated the event since the inception. Everyone involved looks forward to this each holiday season and it truly brings Bolingbrook together. We are very fortunate to have the support of Meijer, Mayor Roger Claar, the Village Officials and Director Teppel.

In 1999, Mayor Claar and the Village Trustees brought the first Meijer store in the Chicagoland area to Bolingbrook. They continue to support numerous community outreach programs.
