BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Bolingbrook Police Department is participating in the Illinois Department of Transportation's Thanksgiving safety campaign, which began Friday, according to a release from the department.
The campaign will run through Nov. 29; leading up to and following Thanksgiving, which is one of the busiest times on Illinois roads, the department said.
Police will step up enforcement of occupant protection and seatbelt laws to help ensure the safety of all passengers in motor vehicles, according to the department.

Police advised drivers and passengers to buckle up, and double check all child safety seats.
The Thanksgiving enforcement effort is made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by IDOT.
