Bolingbrook Resident Debuts New Music Video

"Pulaski Day," directed by David Turvey, was released Friday on Vevo.

Just in time for the March 5 holiday, the third major music video directed by 2006 graduate is making its debut.

“Pulaski Day,” by Chicago native alternative hip-hop artist Kidd Russell and featuring Shwayze frontman Cisco Adler, was released Friday on Vevo.com.

The music video site timed the release perfectly, according to Turvey, a resident and son of Chief Mark Turvey.

“I shot it this past summer over several different days, [but] they wanted to wait til Pulaski Day to release it, which makes sense,” Turvey said.

A musical tribute of sorts to the city, the video was shot entirely in Chicago.

“I wrote this song because I love Chicago,” Russell wrote in an email. “Pulaski Day was always a great holiday growing up. You got school off, now you get work off and it’s a great three-day weekend that symbolizes summer’s around the corner — and we know Chicago summers are the best.”

Turvey said the video marks his third professional release. Last spring, “My Name is Kay,” a video he directed for Canadian pop singer Kay, premiered on perezhilton.com.

Setting his sights on directing major feature films, Turvey has been dividing his time between Bolingbrook and Los Angeles, but said he plans to make the move to L.A. this July.
