Bolingbrook School to Honor Veterans with Pancake Breakfast

The event will be held in November.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Two Romeoville schools and one Bolingbrook school will honor America’s veterans with celebrations next month.

Beverly Skoff’s annual Veterans Day Pancake Breakfast is set for Saturday, Nov. 5. Food will be served from 8 to 9 a.m. for $3 per person. Veterans will be able to eat free of charge at the Romeoville elementary school. Entertainment will be provided by Skoff 2nd graders starting at 9:15. Attendees are urged to wear red, white in blue in honor of our veterans.

Oak View Elementary School in Bolingbrook’s annual Veterans Day Pancake Breakfast is also set for Saturday, Nov. 5 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Veterans will be able to eat free of charge.

Hermansen Elementary School in Romeoville will recognize veterans with a variety of activities from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10 starting with an all-school Pledge of Allegiance at the flagpole outside and ending with Muffins for Our Military.

Students arriving at school that morning will bring items for Operation Care Package. A Color Guard from Romeoville High School’s Marine Corps Junior ROTC program will present colors.

Following the flag raising, students and veterans will attend an assembly. Each veteran present will be recognized and will be given an opportunity to speak with students.

During Muffins for Our Military, students, veterans and family members will share muffins, coffee and juice. Veterans will also be able to view Hermansen’s “Wall of Heroes.”
