Bolingbrook Senior Wins Medals at Track Championships

Another Bolingbrook student placed in the top 10.

Bolingbrook High School senior Jaylan McConico came home with a pair of fourth place finishes at the IHSA state track championships, while another BHS student-athlete and a Romeoville High School student-athlete earned top-10 finishes.

McConico ran a 14.21 in the 110 meter high hurdles and a 38.36 in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles to secure the two medals.

BHS senior Justin Rivers was 9th in the high jump with a leap of 6-3 after winning his flight with a jump of 6-4 in the preliminaries.

RHS senior Victor Osinloye threw the discus 167 feet, 7 inches to finish 10th in the state.

The young BHS 4x200 meter relay (juniors Tanner Banks, Nana Akenton and Tyler Elmore and sophomore Shawn Showalter) showed great promise with a 1:30.36 performance in the prelims but did not qualify for the finals.

Showalter was 4th in his 100 meter dash prelims and 5th in his 200 meter dash prelims but did not qualify for the finals in either event.
