Bolingbrook Student Earns Second Place In Metra Poster Contest

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Bolingbrook student Kyle Baumgartner received second place in Metra's annual safety poster contest earlier this year.
Baumgartner, 19, was a senior at Bolingbrook High School last spring when his graphic design class did the contest as an assignment, his mom, Traci, told Patch.
Students in kindergarten through twelfth grade can participate in the contest. This year's theme was "Stay Safe, Stay Off Train Tracks." Winning designs have been featured in Metra's safety calendar, website, weekend passes and social media, according to the company.

"He used Photoshop to complete his design. Kyle has loved trains since he was a toddler, so this was a fun assignment for him," Traci said.
For earning second place, Baumgartner received a $250 gift card. First place winners received a $500 gift card, and third place winners won a $100 gift card. According to Metra, the contest is open to all students in K-12 living in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties.

When Kyle received the email saying he won, Traci said he "was absolutely amazed."
