Bolingbrook Woman in Running for 'Team Mom of the Year'

Voting is now open and no registration is required.

A Bolingbrook woman is in the running for “Team Mom of the Year,” a contest sponsored by USA Football and CVS MinuteClinic.

Bolingbrook mom Kristin Smith helps out with the Bolingbrook Trojans and said football means coming together with other Trojan fans who are very supportive.

“It means you get to spend the weekend doing something you love with friends and family,” Smith said in a Q&A posted on the website.

As a team mom, Smith assists coaches with paperwork and parent communication. She also cares for minor injuries that occur on the field and makes sure the players stay out of trouble.

Smith said what makes her an exceptional football team mom is her dedication to the team and the organization.

“It’s important for me to make sure there is a good relationship between the coaches and the parents,” Smith said. “I like to think of myself as the glue for my team.”

With Smith isn’t helping out the team, she works as a marketing coordinator.

100 team moms will be showcased for their dedication to their teams and communities, according to the website. Voting is currently going on and no registration is required to vote.

The contest is currently in its second week and will be spread over 10 weeks, with 10 moms nominated each week. To nominate a hard-working mom (or enter yourself in the contest}, visit the contest website.

The top 10 finalists will receive a $1,000 equipment grant, a $100 Sports Authority gift card and a nominee prize pack. The grand prize winner will receive a $5,000 equipment grant, a Team Mom of the Year jersey, $500 spa gift certificate and a nominee prize pack.
