Boy, 15, Arrested In Bolingbrook Had Stolen Credit Card: Police

A resident called police after they saw teenagers looking inside cars in Bolingbrook on Monday night, police said.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — After a call reporting multiple teenagers looking inside cars in Bolingbrook, a 15-year-old from Willowbrook was arrested and charged on Monday, according to Bolingbrook Police.

Police officers were called to Janes Avenue and Falconridge Way at 9 p.m. Monday after a resident called police after seeing several teenagers looking inside cars. Police said officers found a juvenile, who had fled from the initial caller.

The 15-year-old was found to be in possession of proceeds from a motor vehicle theft out of Cook County, according to police. The teenager was arrested and charged with obstructing a peace officer, theft and possession of another's credit card with intent to defraud, police said.

The teen was released to his parents.

Police said that the caller’s observation skills and prompt call to the police prevented another vehicle from being stolen.

"The Bolingbrook Police Department will continue to proactively combat these crimes and remind our citizens to remain situationally aware. If we work as a community, we can further prevent and reduce these types of crimes," police said in a release.
