Disappearing Acts, Oh My! - That's the Scratch!

It looks like the month of June has gotten off to a good start.  All kinds of adventures are in full swing. Hiking trails are open. The Farmer’s Market at the Promenade has started and is now open every Thursday from 4pm to 8pm. Kids are playing summer sports at the parks. The pools are open or are beginning to open. Yes, it is indeed shaping up to be a great month to find adventures around every corner.

It’s turning out to be quite a hot day! It is down right frightening for some of us here at the coop. But, for me it’s becoming quite heavenly. Once again the scent of slow roasted chickens is wafting through the air. And I can barely contain my excitement! Several of the chickens here decided to go “get some sun." And because of their desire to get a little color, they seem to have forgotten to put on their sun block. And unfortunately for them have begun to fry.

While I feel bad for them, the scent of fried chicken is almost too much to bear. Looks like this chicken knows what’s for dinner! (Cluckle, cluckle)

Several of our younger hatchlings have headed on over to the pool to try and keep cool. No worries, this time they decided that if the water gets steamy they would not stay in it and get boiled.

Perhaps then, one can teach a chicken new tricks? Or at least get one to think a little more before running around like our heads are cut off! After all we are not all feather brains. Despite what the prevailing belief is. Sure there are those of us who prefer the natural pecking order and just stay in our coops. But, then there are those of us brave few, who long to roam coop free and explore our surroundings. I for one am one of the few who love to get out there and discover new things.

I have discovered that the Farmer’s Market at the Promenade is gone again. And I am trying to figure out where they disappeared to. They were there Thursday afternoon from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. And I have been told, on good authority, that they will return every Thursday through out this summer. But, I do not understand where they disappear to until they reappear next Thursday. And then they reappear every Thursday out of thin air. It’s like magic! How exciting!

It just goes to show new things are popping up all over this summer! And I for one do not want to miss the excitement. So let’s get outside and explore our community! Summer craft shows, exhibitions of all kinds, pools and trails are now open just waiting for you to find your next adventure!

Check out the local adventures at your village hall, library, and community centers! Some of which, will not be around for long. They will disappear before you know it! So, let’s add to the journey and discover plenty of fun in the sun this summer!

And that’s the scratch!
