Get Involved! Volunteer Opportunities Abound This Summer
Volunteering is something I was introduced to when I was younger and now I want to do it! What are your interests? Find ways to get involved this summer!

Volunteering is something I was introduced to through NJHS (National Junior Honor Society) and NHS.
Back then, it was something I was required to do. Now, it's something I want to do.
It's important to give back to your community and I've found the best way to get started is to find something you're already passionate about.

For me, that something is BAAWG (Building Academic Achievement Within This Generation).
Teachers, parents and the community all figure into the important equation of how to make all students successful. Continuous communication among these three groups is an important part of the educational experience.

What are you interested in? Do you enjoy working with children? Or do you prefer the company of like-minded adults? How about animals? Do you prefer to be indoors or outdoors?
There are schools in the district looking for adults to read with children. There are food pantries, church organizations, health centers, clean-up efforts, humane societies, advocacy organizations and more—all in Bolingbrook.
Do you have kids with you this summer? Find an event or organization that they can participate in with you.
Just type in the world “volunteer” in Patch and many volunteer opportunities pop up. And don't forget to click “Next” on the bottom of the page. The volunteer posts are not arranged by date and some of them are ongoing!
You can also search on-line: http://www.volunteermatch.org/search/orgs.jsp?l=Bolingbrook&k= or http://www.serve.gov/ or type “volunteer” into your search engine.
Whatever your interest, I hope you find a place to start this summer. We can all make our little difference in this great big world.

Please feel free to join us at our next BAAWG meeting: Saturday, July 16 from 11 a.m. to noon at Romeoville High School.
