Illegal Immigrants: Use The Front Door!

Hooray for Arizona and all the other staes that have followed suit! Illegal immigrants beware.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not into denying anyone the opportunity to come to this country, set up a life and prosper. It's the American Dream. It's the American Way. Just do it RIGHT. That's all. And doing it "right" means establishing a legitimate social security number, paying taxes and obeying the rest of our laws. Simple. Period.

So, why all the hoopla? Why all the controversy? Money, that's why. Money to be gained by transporting and providing forged documentation to illegals entering our country from an unauthorized entry point. Money to be gained by public officials benefiting from businesses that thrive on hiring illegals for a fraction of what legal skilled labor should be paid.

Poor excuses.

Politicians and lobbyists will have us believe these new state ordinances condone "racial profiling". So? If you have proper identification, what's the problem? After all, anyone visiting a foreign country is required to keep their passport handy to show proof for their reason to be there.

Why should we demand anything less? If a "visitor" has a temporary, work or school visa, great. However, we should not be protecting those here for the sole purpose of capitalizing on the American Dream without paying the proper dues.

Like I said, I'm not opposed to anyone wanting to create and take advantage of the awesome opportunities this country has to offer. Me casa es su casa.
