Jubilee Craft Show This Sunday

Award-winning local artist is setting up her booth at Sunday's Jubilee Craft Show in Bolingbrook. Hand-crafted jewelry, hand-knit accessories, and porcelain artwork. Noon to 6PM.

I haven't been in a craft show in over 25 years. Now that I've retired, I have much more time to get ready for this weekend's Jubilee.  It takes a whole week of preparation, and afterwards, a week to relax. After you see my booth, you'll understand why. This Sunday from Noon until 6PM, by the Village Hall, I'll have my hand-crafted stone jewelry on display, and available for sale. Since I became a member of Fountaindale Library's Knitter's Nest, I've also been working on some handknit accessories to sell, and I will take custom orders, if needed.

Many years ago, in the 1980's, I was known for my porcelain artwork, and jewelry. I sold my work in several galleries and stores, including Marshall Field's, Scandinavian Design, Merrill Chase Galleries, as well as being invited to show at the Oakbrook Invitational Craft Show. I'll be including some of these prize-winning pieces in my booth at the Jubilee, too. My sculptural pieces look as if they're undersea anemones that have grown on a distant water-covered planet. I added various chemicals to my porcelain, to change it's color from white, to shades of pink, lavender, aqua, yellow, and chartreuse. I leave the surface unglazed, so the matte textures are more subtle, or I sand them down, smooth.

My jewelry includes necklaces that I make from different semi-precious stones, branch coral, exotic-shaped pearls, and multi-colored dichroic glass. Each one is unique, and will make a statement with anything you wear it with. Everyone loves my necklaces that are made from multi-colored turquoise beads that are carved in melon or floral shapes. Last year, I couldn't keep up with the demand for them in a Michigan boutique. I like to wear them layered, combining several in different lengths, at the same time. People say that the colors look yummy, like candy.

I have a passion for coral and pearls. Seems like the most unusual shapes and colors have become available, just in the past few years. I have used the best that I can find and I combine these gorgous colors with glass and rock crystal beads, to make carved or glass pendants even more special. I call myself StoneBunny online, to represent both my jewelry, and my knitting.

The best part of this show will be that I will be able to sell my jewelry at wholesale prices, which are up to 65% off what they sold for in the boutique.

I'm sure you'll spot my booth. I'm the artist with the bright aquamarine and purple hair!
