RECYCLE TOILET PAPER ROLLS FOR THE GARDEN

Recycle toilet paper rolls to use as biodegradable planters for your seed starting indoors

FINALLY!!!  A garden use for those toilet paper rolls!!!

I saw this on Pinterest and just had to share!!  What a great way to recycle your paper towel and toilet paper rolls to use in your garden ... and a GREAT family project for the kids!  Starting some of my vegetables, like tomatoes, and some of my flower seeds inside seems to make for a more successful growing season.  When Memorial Day comes around, they will be ready to go into the ground.

Here's how you do it!

1.   Save those paper towel and toilet paper rolls.  Cut the paper towel rolls so that they are about the size of the toilet paper rolls.

2.   Cut slits in the bottom and fold them in so that they will hold the soil in place.

3.  Find a plastic container to stand them up in.  The plastic container will not only help keep them together as the water starts to disintegrate the towel rolls, but it will help retain the moisture for the seedlings.

4.  Fill them with fresh dirt.  Put the seeds in them according to the directions on the seed pack.  They all require different depths for seed placement, so read the directions carefully.

6.  Put in a sunny spot and watch them grow.

7.  Memorial Day weekend is a great time to plant them outdoors in either a sunny spot in your yard or planters.  Be careful when planting, because the towel planters will have started to disintegrate a little - but that makes very helpful compost for when they are planted outside -- just plant the whole planter in the ground.

HAVE FUN AND HAPPY GARDENING!
