Time heals...nothing.

We've heard it said, but is it true? Time heals...

Let’s examine an age-old saying together.

Time heals all wounds.

Does it really? I think it's very safe to say that time is actually an enemy of ours when it comes to undiagnosed or untreated medical conditions. For example:

  • The wound that is left unattended and is instead viewed as something that will just heal in time… gets infected.
  • The broken bone that is never re-set… becomes a long-term nuisance.
  • The cancer that remains unchecked and untreated in time… grows out of control.

In all of these instances, time heals… nothing.

It is only after the correction occurs that time moves from an enemy to a friend. It is after the wound is cleaned and covered, after the broken bone is set, after the chemotherapy or radiation takes place that time assists the healing process.

The same can be said in the context of relationships. Because relationships are so complicated, and because we are all varsity relationship killers, our lives are littered with broken relationships. I assure you, to cling to time as the healing agent in these relationships is as effective as waiting for your cancer to get better. We need treatment!

How do we begin the treatment? Forgiveness. How do we forgive? Matthew 18 spells it out for us.

Join us on Sunday morning at New Song Church for the answer to the question, "What does biblical forgiveness look like within broken relationships?"
