BPD: Simmons Left Walmart With Stolen TV, Heroin

The 23-year-old Bolingbrook man has had a long criminal rap sheet at the Will County jail since 2012.

BOLINGBROOK, IL - A 23-year-old resident of Bolingbrook was arrested late Thursday morning at a Walmart store in Bolingbrook after police say he was caught stealing a 32-inch Samsung television. But the stolen television is only part of the criminal investigation. Just before 11:30 a.m., Bolingbrook Police officers learned of a store theft in progress at the Walmart in the 200 block of South Bolingbrook Drive. At the store, officers apprehended Raymond Simmons as he was exiting Walmart with the stolen TV, police reports show.

As officers put the handcuffs on Simmons, police say they discovered Raymond Simmons had drug paraphernalia plus four little baggies of white powder. Police say the white powder was later tested and it came back positive for the deadly drug known as heroin.

As of Saturday afternoon, Simmons remained incarcerated at the Will County Adult Detention Facility where he is being held on a $30,000 bond, facing felony charges of retail theft and unlawful possession of drugs.
